Wednesday Programme

North Herts ESC offers a Wednesday Programme of alternative provision for Key Stage 4 and Year 9 students in North Herts and surrounding area Secondary Schools.
On the programme, students attend NHESC on a Wednesday morning/afternoon and their mainstream provision the other days. By working in partnership with the schools, we aim to ensure that the students are provided with a therapeutic approach in all lessons where mentoring and a nurturing learning environment is consistent. NHESC staff have experience in working with students that have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, using strategies to achieve the best outcomes for every student. This approach helps students to retain their place in their mainstream school.
Students will be taught in small groups of no more than six students with a teacher and teaching assistant.
This alternative provision educational package will be offered primarily to North Herts Secondary Schools but will be offered to schools outside of the area if places are available.
The Wednesday Programme will offer Key Stage 4 and Year 9 students the opportunity to follow skills based vocational curricula in a choice of vocational areas:

• Catering – based at Bancroft
• Construction – based at Bancroft
• Media Hair & Beauty related skills – based at Bancroft
• Sport and Coaching Skills – based at Briar Patch

Schools can sign students up for a school term, approximately 12 weeks for £400
Timings:
Key Stage 4 students: 9 – 11.30am
Year 9 students: 12.30-3.00pm
All resources for lessons will be funded by North Herts Education Support Centre.
